Probably the best known attractions in Birmingham are the National Sea Life Centre when you can go on an underwater voyage accompanied by giant sea turtles and sharks, but undoubtedly the most popular with tourists is Cadburys World, where the history of this famous chocolate is explained and made for you to taste! If you are hungry after that visit, try the Cod Pot, right next door, for amazing fish and chips.
For fine dining in the city centre, Purnells is a must if you enjoy contemporary food. The restaurant is housed in a beautiful red-brick Victorian building, where you can dine on the exquisite’ tasting ‘menus, or go for the ‘graze and relax’ seasonal menus. Whichever you chose, you will be delighted with this Michelin starred chef’s menus.
Many excellent restaurants are also located within the city centre’s hotels, so these should not be discounted.
A stand-out pub in the city centre in Temple Row is the Old Joint Stock, full of Victorian splendour, huge selection of ales and classic food dishes such as fish and chips and burgers, but best of all an amazing selection of about 15 different types of pies!
